You could say I disscovered THE STRANGLERS around 1989, and I was very much
impressed with the sound and style.
Unfortunatily I never saw them as a live act untill the 1992 "In The Night
Tour" (by then Hugh Cornwell had left the group and Paul Roberts was on vocals, and also joined by John Ellis). I had
already got all the albums by this point, and my favourite tracks from that album were played that night.
From that time I have seen them every time they have played locally, and
each night has been great (however ths Nottingham Areana can be a poor location). Each
new album has been great to hear, with some of my favourite tracks have been Brain Box (In The Night), Golden Boy, Sinister
(About Time), In Heaven She Walks, Here (Writtren In Red), In The End, No Reason (Coup De Grace), Norfolk Coast, Big Thing
Coming & Into The Fire (Norfolk Coast).
By 2000, John Ellis decided to leave the group to persue solo activities,
so a new guitarist was required. Enter Baz Warne. I was not originaly sure what to think about this, but I was very pleased
with the new line up.
As well as the main bulk of The Stanglers, ther has been other high quality work been undertaken, such
as The FAITH BAND (now known as Soulsec), Three Men & Black (featuring JJ Burnel, Jake Burns from Stiff Little Fingers
& Pauline Black from The Selecter), Baz Warne.
